BIM 360 Docs Updates – Sharing is caring

Some of you who may already be familiar with BIM 360 Docs may be aware that to get your files to somebody on a project, they need to be a member to access those files and therefore consume a licence. As of today that has now changed, Files from the “Project Files” area of BIM 360 Docs can now be shared with someone who is completely outside of your BIM 360 Hub (anyone basically).

This is a revolution for companies that have the need to share files with 100’s of suppliers for bids and tenders or for sharing files with small sub-contractors who might not want to use the likes of BIM 360 to view a file.

The beauty of this update is that even if the file is shared with a non BIM 360 Docs user via email, the activity of the share is still logged in the activities of the project and is still logged when it is viewed. Allowing for a full audit trail of the information shared with non BIM 360 Users. This is a breakthrough for opening up the use of BIM 360 Docs to small and large companies that need to share information but do not necessarily need them to work on, access folders or upload to a project.
