One Big Team – Man and Machine European Experts Conference

Man and Machine UK are celebrating an amazing milestone in their 10th anniversary year, and as part of that we have returned to in-person events in the wider Mensch und Maschine group, which is fantastic to be involved with again.

We have very recently returned from our group wide Experts and Developers Conference hosted in Germany with representation from most teams presenting their experiences and knowledge to the other country technical leaders to aid with sharing our experiences and trends on projects and with our wide range of customers across both AEC and Manufacturing sectors.

Our own team were well represented by Gareth Spencer from our AEC team and Chris England from our Manufacturing team, illustrating some useful experiences gained and pains felt from both project experiences and delivery of services in the UK. Chris England started the proceedings at the event by explaining the automation projects that have been recently scoped and delivered which include configuration and drawing automation for steel bolt systems, drawing delivery and bills of materials for metal framing and wall support systems and detailed configurator and design automation for cubical design using Inventor, ilogic and Vault functionality. These projects have illustrated the clear development and cross over now regularly happening between the manufacturing and building component realms, which we are experiencing more and more in Man and Machine.

Chris’ presentation was very well received and provided lots of insight and ideas to other team members with questions raised from various countries tech teams.

Proceedings continued with presentations from Italy, Romania and France discussing projects around Vault integration with ERP systems, Building operational handover from BIM Modelling including live tracking data systems for CAFM outputs and BIM Compliance services in France likened very closely to our own BIM Assessment and Reporting for businesses to ensure that teams not only have a plan to implementation but they are also checking that what is being delivered meets the needs of ISO 19650 and business wide approach.

Gareth Spencer closed the morning presentations by discussing the way that the UK have organised their offering for Autodesk Construction Cloud Software and Services. We discussed the ways in which we deliver the full range of support across Autodesk Docs, Build, Collaborate Pro and Takeoff. Understanding the ways in which we can provide the integrated services to enhance the workflows and delivery of organisations is key to successful rollout of any of the ACC products. He also illustrated some of the successful and also problematic service delivery to show that its not all straightforward when dealing with complex organisations. A great presentation from Gareth generated several questions and discussions later in the day.

Following a great team lunch, we moved into the afternoon with further sessions from Italy, Poland and Germany. With interesting discussions around the crossovers between Revit and Vault to produce Bill of Materials from the Italian Team, Online software deployment processes from Poland and a series of case studies on key clients and Mensch und Maschine developed tools for AEC and MFG closed of what was a much-needed return to in person events. We would like to thank our team leaders in the UK and Germany for making the European technical event a success and providing a great insight into what other teams in the organisation are achieving with their highly skilled staff members.
